Description (View/Hide)
BRIEF
This brief aimed to tackle real-world problems that the people of South Africa face.
A specific government entity had to be selected, an issue identified within it, and a creative solution in the form of an integrated out-of-home campaign created in response.
The campaign had to include a visual identity,
4 OOH touch points, and one merch item and crafted using a hand-rendered approach.

PROBLEM AND INSIGHT
According to Stats SA, the business sector of street vending employs 22% of South Africa's workforce, contributing a significant positive amount of R32 billion a year to our economy (Stats SA, 2024: Online). Despite this community's determination and ability to hustle in uncomfortable environments, their valuable role is often overlooked and under supported by the government.
It is an incredibly important informal business sector - born from South Africa's resilient working class community, determined to support each other - that faces issues due to daily physical burdens as a result of a lack of funding because of stigma that surrounds the profession.

SOLUTION
SKoERRRT aims to solve this issue by providing physical as well as informative solutions that make vending more accessible, easier to do, and quicker to maneuver.
The campaign consists of a pop-up stall design, a robot display, a taxi stop, and a mural. Each element is made up of lino-cut designs and a vibrant colour palette that reflects the lively spirit and aesthetics of South African street vendors.
All elements aim to be multi-functional and make the life of a street vendor easier, providing value to the lives of a valuable enterprise.
