Mila en die Maan/ Mila and the Moon is a bilingual illustrated children's book that follows a curious hare who dreams of reaching the moon. The project explores how Southern African children’s books can reflect local cultural themes, landscapes and characters. This project originated from the realization that as a bilingual child growing up in Namibia, most of the books I read were European stories. The solution was a book that reflected my lived experience with the intention of developing a template that could be used for other languages in the region.
