Weary of the valley's predictable rhythms and the slow yield of the sun-baked earth, a farmer named Uys turned his back on the world.
He retreated into the rugged, granite folds of the Paardeberg mountains, trading the plough for the precise eye of a naturalist.
There, as a hermit of the peaks, he spent his years documenting the fragile mysteries of the Swartland, capturing the
fleeting beauty of wanderers.
He left behind a legacy of sketches (captured on the labels in hand-drawn illustrations), solitude, and a forgotten parcel of vines.
Decades later, we rediscovered these ancient, untamed roots, surviving on mountain mist and sheer resilience.
We took these into two distinct vinicultures:
Reliquiae (The Remnants) is a tribute to what remains when the world stops looking.
It is a highly limited, deeply concentrated Chenin Blanc, rich with the texture of weathered stone
and the golden warmth of a hidden history.
And Magnum Opus (The Masterpiece) is an exceptionally rich and deeply complex Syrah.
It unfolds with intense layers of dark bramble fruit, cracked black pepper, and a profound, granitic minerality
that echoes the rugged slopes of the Perdeberg.
