Description (View/Hide)
The project required students to conceptualise and develop a marketable product using printmaking techniques combined with illustration and design. The outcome had to present a consistent visual language that communicated a clear concept, while also integrating infographic thinking to make researched data engaging and accessible.
Knor is a playful wellness brand that puts gut health “on the throne.” It combines humour with education, offering products and information about digestion in local language. The brand’s quirky identity uses illustrated characters, slogans, and infographics to make a taboo subject approachable and culturally relevant.
Illustration was central to the project’s identity. The student employed lino printmaking techniques, carving designs by hand, printing them in black ink, and then refining them digitally. This process gave the visuals a tactile, handcrafted quality that reinforced authenticity. The logo itself followed this handcrafted approach, ensuring cohesion across all assets.
The illustrations featured humorous “poop patrol” characters, expressive icons, and bold shapes that transformed gut health into something lighthearted and relatable. Infographics were illustrated with playful motifs, turning data about diet, probiotics, and digestive habits into colourful, easy to read visuals. A vibrant palette of yellow, blue, and orange enhanced accessibility and energy, while collage like compositions layered text, icons, and characters to create rhythm and engagement.
Collateral such as stickers, calendars, and membership packs extended the illustrated identity, making the brand interactive and memorable.
The final rollout delivered a cohesive illustrated brand system. By merging handcrafted printmaking with digital refinement, Knor successfully positioned itself as a humorous yet educational wellness brand. The strong emphasis on illustration transformed gut health into a visually engaging, approachable topic, breaking taboos and making the brand both marketable and culturally resonant.
