Traditional koeksister packaging often leaks syrup, creating a sticky and messy eating experience that makes the product difficult to handle and eat cleanly. The solution was to redesign the packaging by serving the koeksister on a stick for easier handling. A piece of cardboard was added beneath the koeksister to absorb excess syrup and prevent it from dripping onto the user’s hands. A sealed plastic tube was used to keep the product hygienic and fresh while preventing the koeksister from drying out. The packaging design also aimed to reflect the Afrikaans heritage of the brand by maintaining a traditional and authentic feel while introducing a more modern and practical packaging solution.
