Baba Yaga is a children’s picture-book adaptation of the enduring Slavic folktale about the mysterious witch who lives deep within the forest in a house that stands on chicken legs.

This retelling reimagines the tale for a contemporary young audience while retaining its strange, unsettling and magical qualities. Through expressive character design, atmospheric environments and sequential illustration, the familiar journey into the woods becomes a story about courage, curiosity, consequence and navigating the unknown.

Balancing humour, suspense and folklore, the project explores how a centuries-old tale can be visually reinvented for a new generation without losing the peculiar darkness that makes Baba Yaga so memorable.
