Description (View/Hide)
FELLOWSHIP OF THE VELD

Fellowship of the Veld is an illustrated zine rooted in South African ecology, folklore and speculative mythology. As the veld begins to suffer under human pressure, Mzansi, spirit of the wilderness, entrusts four unlikely mystics with protecting what remains: soil, water, seed and bone.

Through Molelo the fire-reader, Tokki the healer, Krobbo the rain-dancer and Jinta the collector, environmental threats such as wildfire, erosion, wetland destruction and ecological loss are reimagined as acts of magic, ritual and guardianship.

Blending character design, visual storytelling and distinctly South African landscapes, the zine transforms conservation into a contemporary folk tale about care, responsibility and our relationship with the natural world.

“Guard what you can. Speak where I cannot.”
