This brief required us to design a typeface based on Salt River, Cape Town that positively contributes to the area and its community. Despite Salt River’s close proximity to Cape Town City Centre, the area has not become a tourist destination. This is largely due to the fact that people are either unaware of Salt River or have negative perceptions of the area. This bold typeface, Rooftop Rhythm, inspired by the unique rooftops in Salt River, Cape Town, aims to shift people’s perspectives on Salt River and establish it as a trendy area that people want to visit.
